Doha: Qatar Post has changed the delivery fee for home delivery of medicines and other medical supplies from today. Home delivery services run by Qatar Post in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) will be charged 30 riyals from January 1. Qatar Post and Hamad Medical Corporation announced on Twitter that the condition applies to home delivery of medicines, medical reports, medical consumables and food products.

Delivery fee has been reduced from 20 to 30 riyals

In April 2020, during the lockdown due to the spread of Kovid, Qatar Post and HMC collaborated to make home delivery of medicines and other items possible. At that time, Qatar Post was charging 30 Riyals for this service. Despite the end of the covid restrictions, the authorities decided to continue the project based on the good response received from the people. Later last September, the home delivery charge was reduced from 30 riyals to 20 riyals. The decision was made in view of the World Cup. The delivery fee has been reduced from 30 riyals to 20 riyals. Qatar Post had already informed that the fee waiver will be applicable only till the end of 2022. Accordingly, the old fee has been brought back from January 1.

Officials informed that patients should call 16000 from 8 am to 2 pm from Sunday to Thursday to get home delivery service of medicines from Hamad Medical Corporation. Meanwhile, to get Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) medicines delivered to their homes, patients have to call the home delivery service number linked to their health centre. Call 16000 for more details. To avail the PHCC medicine home delivery service, patients just need to send a message to the WhatsApp number assigned to their health centre. WhatsApp number is available on PHCC website.

Health card and payment card are required

HMC and PHCC patients must have a valid health card to avail this service. Also need a payment card to pay for the purchase of medicines or other items and delivery fees. And provide their home and street address. This service is available nationwide to all patients. All Qatar Post drivers adhere to high standards of hygiene. A refrigeration system is also available in the vehicle to keep medicines etc intact. HMC officials informed that they have also received training to handle special medicines. From April 2020 to September 2022, more than 400,000 drug deliveries to HMC patients and nearly two lakh drug deliveries to PHCC patients have been made using the service, officials said.
