After two years in which Rosh Hashanah celebrations did not take place or were reduced due to the Corona epidemic – this year millions around the world will celebrate New Year’s Eve. The countries of the world will welcome the new year with a variety of events and celebrations. The first country to accept the new year was the island nation of Kiribati. After that, New Zealand welcomed the New Year, which marked the occasion with a spectacular D-Nor fireworks display at the Sky Tower in Auckland. Next in line was Australia, where a fireworks display began over the Sydney Opera House.

A 3-year-old boy was killed by a car in a girl in the south
A 3-year-old boy was killed today (Saturday) after being hit by a vehicle in the Hora Bedouin diaspora in the south. The boy was brought to a local clinic where MDA teams gave him medical treatment and performed CPR on him, but in the end he was pronounced dead. Traffic accident examiners from the Negev region arrived at the scene, began an investigation and began collecting findings.

The previous Pope, Benedict XVI, died today (Saturday) and is 95 years old. He resigned from his position in February 2013 and became the first leader of the Catholic Church to retire in 600 years. In recent years, the former pope lived in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery in the Vatican complex.
Benedict XVI, born Joseph Alois Ratzinger, was a retired prelate (senior priest) of the Catholic Church who served as the 265th Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Before being elected Pope, he served as dean of the Hashemite Assembly and as head of the “Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith” (formerly the Inquisition).

The UN General Assembly approved tonight (Saturday) the Palestinian proposal to request a legal opinion from the International Court of Justice in The Hague regarding the “legal significance of the ongoing Israeli occupation”. The request was approved after 87 voted in favor, with Israel, the United States and 24 other countries voting against and 53 countries abstaining. According to the proposal, Israeli presence in Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem is illegal and asks the court to recommend the steps that the UN and the countries of the world should take against Israel due to this presence which, according to the proposal, constitutes “annexation” of the territory.
