Ramanathapuram District Collector Janitam Varghese said in a press release:-

Ramanathapuram District Sports Development Authority is organizing sports competitions for Chief Minister’s Cup. A total of 50 types of competitions will be held in January and February at the district sports stadium in which 42 types of competitions and 8 types of competitions will be held at the district level in which both men and women will participate in 5 categories such as general category, school, college students, differently abled and government employees.

Athletes who want to participate in the competitions should register their team and individual details on Sports Development Authority website www.sdat.tn.gov.in. General category 15-35 years men and women Kabaddi, Silambam, Athletics, Volleyball and Handball competitions will be held.

School boys and girls 12-19 years of age will participate in kabaddi, chilambam, athletics, basketball, volleyball, football, golf ball, swimming, handball and table tennis competitions. Tennis, weight lifting and beach volleyball competitions will be held for school boys and girls aged 12-19 at the zone level.

Kabaddi, Chilamba, Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Golf Ball, Swimming, Handball, Table Tennis competitions will be held for college students aged 17-25 years. Tennis, weightlifting and beach volleyball competitions will be held for 17-25 year old college boys and girls of the zonal level.

There is no age limit for disabled persons. There will be 50 meters race for male and female disabled, Pad Minton, 100 meter race for visually impaired and volleyball. 100 meters race for mentally retarded, throwball, 100 meters race for hearing impaired, kabaddi competition will be held.

There is no age limit for government employees. Kabaddi, Athletics, Volleyball, Handball, Chess, Weightlifting, Beach Handball and Tennis will be held for men and women. The winning teams at the district and regional levels will participate in the state level competitions. Winners of the competitions will be awarded first prize of Rs.3 thousand, 2nd prize of Rs.2 thousand and 3rd prize of Rs.1000.
