Just after returning from the final preparatory games in Poland, and just before she takes off for Italy where she will compete this weekend in the qualifiers for the U21 World Championship, Israel’s reserve team visited the President’s House and the Western Wall in Jerusalem last night (Sunday).

The players, and the professional and administrative teams of the national team took part in the visit. The wife of the president, Mrs. Michal Herzog, congratulated the team’s players and wished them success for the mission. The President’s wife heard an overview of the activities of the national handball project and the Israeli national teams from the union’s board member, Tzachi Weiss, and the union’s executive director, Miri Shalu. She posed for a photo with the players and the reserve’s winning plate in the European Tier B Under-20 Championship.

Mrs. Herzog made it clear that she would be happy to watch the game later, and hopefully within the framework of the World Championship. After the visit to the president’s house, the team players continued to visit the Western Wall and have lunch in the capital. Reserve coach Nissim Falah is expected to determine tomorrow the final squad that will fly to Italy on Wednesday – where the team will play on Friday-Saturday-Sunday against the young teams of Croatia, Italy and Montenegro (the team that finishes first will qualify for the under-21 world championship).

As mentioned, the reserve team defeated the team that will compete in the corresponding house in the qualifiers for the Under-21 World Championship twice this weekend in Poland – 26:27 and 28:29. The squad of players for the preparation team includes the goalkeepers Tal Peled and Lior Shein, and the field players, Nadav Cohen, Or Levy, Assaf Sukholitsky, Uri Falah, Alon Shulman, Assaf Ohion, Ilai Ben Yaakov, Noam Sosna, Assaf Sharon, Uri Gaz, Roy Liebgot, Barak Kermon, Or Meman, Gal Azriel, Tom Livov. Or Levy was the outstanding scorer in both games. Goalkeeper Tal Peled, who plays for the French club Massey, also excelled.

Today’s visit to Jerusalem is added to the visit for the community that the reserve players and the professional staff made a visit to the children’s wards at Safra Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer as part of an activity for the community.
