Only 300 meters away from the vineyard destroyed this morning by the Ministry of Defense, on the outskirts of the nearby village of Burin, stands an illegal mosque against which a demolition order was issued about 15 years ago. In the petition submitted by the Regavim movement against the illegal mosque to the High Court, the state undertook to destroy it, but to this day it is still standing and surrounded by dozens of other illegal buildings that were built in the area.
In the Regavim movement, they say that one of the first steps that Minister Smotrich must take is the cancellation of that “disruptive use order” and that this is a draconian tool that is used only against Jews, as the Edmond Levy report stated years ago.
Moshe Shmueli, the coordinator of Yosh in Regavim said: “The Civil Administration has avoided enforcing the law against an illegal Palestinian mosque for over 15 years despite its commitment to the High Court to enforce the law in the Regavim petition and on the other hand is rushing to clear a Jewish vineyard with hundreds of thousands of shekels of damage. The rule of law should be equal For everyone and this case is another example of the crooked conduct of the Civil Administration.”
