Muscat ∙ Ban on import of plastic bags in Oman. In this regard, the order issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of Oman came into effect from January 1.

Henceforth, companies, institutions and individuals will not be able to import plastic bags into the country. A fine of 1000 riyals will be levied if the law is violated. The ministry said that if the violation is repeated, the fine amount will be doubled.

Single-use plastic carrier bags have been banned in Oman since January last year.
