Uno break difficult to digest. The United Kingdom left the European Union two years ago. The British hoped that Brexit would allow their economy to prosper and their authorities to better control their borders. Many of them seem very disappointed with the result, to the point of asking for a referendum to return to the EU.
According to a Savanta survey for The Independent, 65% of Britons would demand a new vote to reconsider Brexit. A figure in clear progression since the same poll had been carried out last year, at the same period, and a little more than half (55%) of the people questioned already wanted a new referendum.
In detail, we note that some Britons want a vote fairly quickly, while others are ready to wait a little longer. Thus, 22% of respondents are calling for a referendum within the next five years, 24% within six to ten years, and only 4% envisage it in twenty years. By comparison, the share of Britons refusing a new Brexit referendum has fallen from 32% to 24% in one year.
Deteriorating economy
Also, still according to this survey, 54% of the British believe that Brexit was a bad decision. A figure also on the rise since, last year, 46% of respondents shared this opinion.

While most Britons polled believe Brexit is partly responsible for the deterioration of their economy, many also believe it has damaged the UK’s image internationally. This applies in particular to trade. At the end of December, the British Chamber of Commerce asked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his government to re-examine its agreement with Europe, concluded under Boris Johnson, to improve trade.
