Tamil Nadu government announced Pongal gift package on the occasion of Pongal festival. It has been announced that Rs.1000 cash, one kg of tamarind, one kg of sugar and one whole sugarcane will be given.

This gift package will be given to all the rice family card holders and 2.19 crore Tamils ​​in Sri Lankan refugee camps.

On the 9th (Monday), Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will inaugurate Pongal by giving gifts. On that day, ration will be distributed in 33 thousand shops in Tamil Nadu. Arrangements for this are being made by the food supply department.

At the ration shop, the head of the family or any member of the family registers their fingerprints and gets the essential commodities. Fingerprint registration is now mandatory to get Pongal gift package too.

At the same time token is issued in advance to avoid overcrowding in ration shops. This work started today. Employees are going door to door and handing out tokens.

The token contains the date and time when the gift package will be given.

200 tokens are issued per day. So public can buy their gift packages without any hassle.
