Former AIADMK Minister Jayakumar responded to the party’s president Anbumani Ramadoss talking about the AIADMK in the General Committee of the Proletarian People’s Party, saying that the issue has turned into a conflict between the two parties. Will this affect the parliamentary election alliance accounts?
A general committee meeting of the Proletarian People’s Party was held on New Year’s Day. Speaking at the meeting, party leader Anbumani Ramadoss said, “AIADMK is divided into four. People have severe criticisms on DMK. We are next. All others are just noise.”
It is this speech of his that has made the AIADMK agitated. Speaking to the media on Monday about this issue, former AIADMK minister Jayakumar said, “Can we forget the ladder we climbed? If not for Jayalalitha, Bhamaga would not have been known.”
He also said, “The BJP got recognition only because of Jayalalitha’s alliance. Before that, the party had no recognition. In the 1991 assembly elections, the BJP got only one seat. After that, it did not get a single seat in the parliamentary elections.
In the 1998 parliamentary elections, the AIADMK-BAMA gave 5 seats. They won 4 of them. It was only then that the Election Commission got its approval. If you forget to say thank you like this, the people of Tamil Nadu will not respect not only the AIADMK but also their party members.
In the 2001 Assembly elections, Jayalalithaa gave 27 seats to the BJP. They won 20 of them. Thus AIADMK entered the Legislative Assembly. Entered Parliament. Got central ministerial posts. Is it correct to say that AIADMK has now split into four after receiving all the favors of AIADMK?
Who gave Anbumani the post of MP? It was the AIADMK that identified him as MP. Can we forget all that and talk? If you insult us again, we will give a befitting reply,” says Jayakumar.
If the AIADMK’s vehement response to Anbumani’s comment was surprising, the Bamagawa’s response was even more surprising. Party spokesperson and lawyer Balu, who immediately met the media, pointed out the moments when Pamaga helped the AIADMK.
“Even a common child knows that the AIADMK is divided. We share this in our party meetings.
Talking about this, Jayakumar says that in 1998, we gave seats to Bamako and we are the reason why Anbumani Ramadoss became a Member of Parliament. Anbumani Ramadoss is the reason why he is a Member of Parliament? First, who is this person?
According to the agreement, the land was given to Bamagawa. The party leadership decided who would be given the seat and it was given to Anbumani Ramadoss.
They have a habit of saying that they became parliamentarians and legislators because of us.
But they have to look back to 1996. The ruling AIADMK won four seats. There are four places that stand out.
In 1998 A.D.M.K. They won the parliamentary elections only because Jayalalitha came to our party office in Thenampet and formed an alliance when they were weakened.
Whenever there has been a time when the AIADMK was weakened and could have died, the Bamakavins have proved to be the ones who have given it life. Had it not taken that decision in 1998, the AIADMK would have suffered a major collapse. In 2001, Jayalalitha waited on the road for Rama Das to form an alliance.
We never say, ‘AIADMK came to power because of us, Edappadi Palaniswami was chief minister because of us, Jayakumar was a minister for two years’. Therefore, when Jayakumar criticizes Bhamaga, he should understand and talk about Bhamaga’s contribution in the past.
We see what Jayakumar said as his personal opinion. So take appropriate explanation K. Palaniswami should provide.
It is not yet time to talk about alliances. All the parties will take a decision about it 6 months before announcing the election. We are working to strengthen the party.
We have a clear stand on alliances. Just because a leader makes a point, we don’t take it seriously.
We will give priority only to matters of public interest. It is AIADMK that should explain about Jayakumar who caused this situation.
During the 2019 parliamentary elections, all 22 assembly constituencies were contested. At that time, AIADMK had to win 9 seats to retain power. So we did not contest the northern districts where we were strong but supported them. ‘Through that, Edappadi K. for two years. We were the reason why Palaniswami continued as Chief Minister. We will not say that we are the reason why Jayakumar has been a minister for two consecutive years.
Both parties in an alliance benefit. Why are ADMK leaders going to court if there is no confusion within their party? Advocate K. Balu severely criticized Jayakumar saying that it was Jayakumar who caused the situation to be reminded of this.
As far as the Patali Mahakal Party is concerned, it has faced the ADMK in the last two elections. In the 2016 assembly elections, the BMC contested alone, and in the 2019 parliamentary elections, it participated in the AIADMK alliance and contested in 7 seats.
Not winning anywhere. In the 2021 assembly elections, AIADMK contested 23 seats and won 5 seats. During the rural local body elections that followed, it announced that it would contest alone.
With only one and a half years left for the 2024 parliamentary elections, various parties in Tamil Nadu have begun to give accounts of their alliances. Durai Karuna, a senior journalist, says that Bamagawa’s speech is a part of it.
“Batali People’s Party says before every election that they will stand alone. Only when the elections are near, they talk about alliance. In 2016, when they stood alone, they got 5.5 percent votes.
Pamaka is a decisive force in many constituencies in North-West districts. That is why, when the elections are near, Bamaga talks like this. But now the AIADMK has started reacting.
Perhaps if parties like Congress and Vishika leave the DMK alliance, they may want to join the alliance. That is why they have reduced the criticism of DMK. If they don’t get a place in the DMK alliance, they may say that they are continuing in the NDA,” says Durai Karuna.
As for AIADMK, there is no confusion in their party; Edappadi K. This reaction is to show that the Palaniswami side is still the stronger side. Durai Karuna says close-up scenes will become clear as the election approaches.
