AIADMK general body case adjourned to tomorrow- Dinamani

The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of the case related to AIADMK General Committee to January 05 (tomorrow).

AIADMK general committee meeting was held on July 11 at Wanagaram, Chennai. On August 17, single judge Jayachandran of the Madras High Court, who heard the petitions filed by O. Panneerselvam and general committee member Vairamuthu, said, ‘July 11 AIADMK general committee meeting is invalid. He had ordered that the situation in AIADMK should continue as it was before June 23.

Against this, K. A two-judge bench of the Madras High Court hearing the appeal filed by Palaniswami quashed the decision of the single judge. Also, it said that the AIADMK General Committee meeting held on July 11 will go. O. Panneerselvam and P. Vairamuthu filed appeals against this judgment in the Supreme Court. Edappadi K. Palaniswami and AIADMK also filed caveat petitions in the Supreme Court.

During the earlier hearing of these petitions, Edappadi K. On Palaniswami’s side, ‘The resolutions passed in the ADMK general meeting, the details regarding the amendment of the party’s rules have been given to the electoral commission, but they have not been uploaded verbally citing that the matter is pending in the Supreme Court. Thus, it was requested that an interim order be issued that there is no restriction on constitutional institutions to carry out such activities in accordance with the law. The court asked to file a petition in this regard.

Following this, a petition was filed stating the details of the letter and documents sent by EPS to the Election Commission.

In the objection filed by the OPS, ‘there is no urgency to investigate this matter urgently at a time when there is no election. But, they artificially create a similar look’, it was reported.

In this situation, the matter came up for hearing again before the Supreme Court bench of Justice Dinesh Maheshwari. Senior advocates Ranjith Kumar, Haren Rawal, Guru Krishnakumar on behalf of the petitioners O. Panneerselvam, Vairamuthu and others, and senior advocates Mukul Rothaki, C.S. on behalf of Edappadi K. Palanisamy and others. Vaidyanathan, Vijay Narayanan, Aryama Sundaram, K.V. Viswanathan, Atul Sidle, Advocate Vinod Khanna were also present.

Then, the judges listed these pleas last time because both sides insisted on them. He said that it would not be possible to investigate the case due to lack of time. To that, the EPS was asked to list the case immediately after the vacation of the Supreme Court.

In this situation, the case related to AIADMK General Committee came up for hearing in the Supreme Court today.

The decisions taken at the General Assembly held on July 11 should be annulled. On behalf of O. Panneer Selvam, it was informed that the position of coordinator and co-coordinator should be resumed. Edappadi Palaniswami informed that the work of the party has been paralyzed due to the court investigation.

The judges of the Supreme Court, who heard the case, have said that they want to complete the hearing of the AIADMK General Committee case this week itself.

Following this, the bench of judges has ordered to list the trial on January 5 at 2 pm.
