Myanmar Independence Day: Amnesty for 7,012 – Dinamani

by time news

Myanmar’s military ruler Min Aung Liang announced on Wednesday that 7,012 prisoners would be granted amnesty to mark the 75th anniversary of Myanmar’s independence from Britain.

He also promised during his Independence Day speech that elections will be held in a democratic manner by the end of this year.

The National Democratic Party led by Aung San Suu Kyi won a landslide victory in the 2020 elections in Myanmar. However, the army dissolved his rule on February 1 last year, citing irregularities in the election.
