Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called Russia’s decision to declare a 36-hour ceasefire in the Ukraine war hypocritical. Russia announced a ceasefire last day as part of the Christmas celebrations of the Christian Orthodox sect. However, Ukraine rejected Russia’s announcement.
Zelensky stated that Russia’s cease-fire announcement is not taken at face value and that Ukraine will continue its strong resistance efforts. At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense accused Ukraine of continuing its offensive in violation of the cease-fire declaration.
Ukraine also accused Russia of shelling Kherson and Kramatorsk. Germany has announced that it will provide 40 armed tankers to Ukraine.
