Ile-de-France and Oise: six car thieves detained pending trial

by time news

As authorized by law, six men aged 19 to 21 presented this Friday for an immediate appearance in the Senlis court, requested a delay in order to prepare their defense. Their trial has been postponed until February 15 and, until then, they will await this hearing in pre-trial detention. “You are placed in pre-trial detention to avoid any reiteration of the facts and consultation between you, and to guarantee the maintenance at the disposal of justice”, specified the president of the court, Véronique Toulier, to the address of the six defendants.

For much of August and until October, these young residents of Seine-et-Marne are suspected of the theft or attempted theft of 16 vehicles, mostly Peugeot 5008 or 3008 SUVs. cars opened with a screwdriver and started using a computer that reproduces the start key. The vehicles then took the direction of Belgium or Germany, before being embarked on ships generally calling on the African continent.

Four of them sentenced in November for identical facts

In the Oise, the band of Chellois thus operated in Senlis, Rully, Ormoy-Villers or Silly-le-Long, areas not far from their native Seine-et-Marne. Thefts and attempts are also attributed to them in Seine-et-Marne, Val-d’Oise and Val-de-Marne. The analyzes of CCTV images and telephones will make it possible to trace the six men who were gently arrested at the beginning of January at their respective homes.

It is true that this modus operandi and the targeted vehicles also guided the investigators since four of the six defendants were sentenced last November for strictly identical facts, by the criminal court of Pontoise (Val-d’Oise). The thefts had taken place before those which will be judged by the magistrates of Senlis, and related to 10 thefts and 14 attempted thefts. The four concerned had received prison sentences, which they had to serve for three of them, in the form of wearing an electronic bracelet.
