A weekend of attempts and car thefts: a policeman was run over in Am Moshavat, cars were stolen in Hadar Ganim

by time news

The police arrested a Kalkilia resident early Saturday morning who is suspected of running over a police officer while attempting to steal a car. The officers of the police station in Petah Tikva were called on the night between Friday and Saturday upon receiving a report of an attempted car theft in the parking lot of a building in Petah Tikva. When the policemen arrived at the scene, a short fight with the suspects began, at the end of which one of the suspects fled with the vehicle while hitting a policeman who was standing in his way. The policeman was taken to the Billinson Medical Center in the city with minor injuries.

Scans carried out in the area by the municipal police officers in the city with the assistance of the station’s detectives soon led to the location of the suspect hiding in the bushes near the football stadium. The suspect tried to escape but was arrested a short time later and was brought to the police station in the city for questioning and eventually imprisoned. On Saturday night, the suspect – a 29-year-old resident of Kalkilia, was brought to a court hearing with a request to extend his detention.

Reports of car theft also came from the Hadar Ganim neighborhood. Public activist Yaron Kadoshim reported the theft of two vehicles early Saturday morning in the Nahilim complex in Hadar Ganim. In two cases, vehicles were stolen from building parking lots. A squad was also reported to have been seen by several residents. The squad reportedly had four people, with hoods on their heads, and a black vehicle accompanying them. Starting today, there will probably be tours of residents in the neighborhood. Kadoshim also informed that he contacted the Rabbi of the city, Rabbi Micha Halevi, regarding contacting the police on Shabbat in the case of suspicious persons.
