Prof. Alan Dershovitch, the senior jurist from Harvard University and close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was interviewed today (Sunday) on the program ‘Good Morning Israel’ by Efi Trigger on the IDF airwaves and referred to the expected reform of the justice system presented by Justice Minister Yariv Levin last week, and its possible consequences.

“The program is supposed to strengthen democracy in Israel, but it harms civil rights and minority rights,” Dershovitch said.

The jurist also referred to the global criticism that may come with the implementation of the changes: “The plan will weaken the position of Israel and the position of the Supreme Court in the world. It will be much more difficult for me to defend Israel against its critics. Netanyahu supports balance, I wish he wouldn’t let the right-wing marker in the coalition dictate what he will be,” he said.
