Nairobi: Six journalists have been arrested in Sudan for circulating a video of Sudanese President Salva Kiir urinating during a public event. South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation journalists were arrested by the National Security Agency. A media rights group has come forward demanding the release of the journalists.

The Union of Journalists in South Sudan has called for the investigation of the six men to end as soon as possible. The National Security Agency has alleged that these journalists had knowledge of the release of the video. If there is a prima facie case of professional misconduct or criminality, the authorities should be ready to expedite steps to resolve the issue in a fair, transparent and legal manner.
