Pre-urgent medicine reports a 60% increase in calls to the clinic centers with flu and corona symptoms in recent days: “We expect a further increase in calls in the next two weeks”
In recent days, there has been a sharp increase in calls to emergency medical centers with hundreds of patients reporting flu and corona symptoms who describe that they suffer from symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, headache and muscle pain.
“The sharp increase in cases of corona or flu is creating a great burden when in the next two weeks we expect another increase in inquiries, and we are preparing with increased teams in all Terem centers” – said Dr. David Zlotnik, senior medical director and expert in family medicine and emergency medicine in Terem.
The data from the Ministry of Health shows that more than 1,200 newly confirmed patients with Corona are added every day, and another 500 seriously ill patients who were added only in the last month, and that this winter we are expecting waves of combined morbidity of Corona, influenza andRVS.
Dr. Zlotnik points out that the centers are not yet preparing for what will come following the reports in China about the renewed outbreak of Corona. As part of the assessments and in order to meet the load and allow doctors a rapid diagnostic tool to treat the applicants, the decision has not yet been made to equip the centers with rapid flu tests.
Dr. Zlotnik: “We recommend that high-risk patients first get the flu and corona vaccinations, and in the event of illness to get both tests done, because the symptoms of the two diseases are similar. In case of a positive answer to the flu, the patients will be able to start treatment with the drug, as close as possible to the onset of the disease.”
