Vienna – The number of people leaving the church in Austria is at a new record high: 90,808 people left the Catholic Church in 2022, according to church statistics published on Wednesday. This means that more people left the church last year than in 2010 with 85,960. There doesn’t seem to be a single decisive reason for the many resignations. The number of Catholics shrank from 4.83 million in the previous year to 4.73 million. (1.96 percent).
