The American space agency NASA has discovered another planet similar in size and composition to Earth.

The planet, named TOI 700 e, is 100 light-years away from us, and 95% the size of Earth. This is the fourth such planet detected orbiting the star TOI 700. All were discovered by NASA’s TESS satellite.

Another planet of the solar system in question was discovered in 2020 and is called TOI 700 d. It is also similar in size to the Earth. The two discovered planets are at a distance from their sun suitable for the production of life as we know it, among other things due to the fact that water can form there.

NASA announced the discovery yesterday (Tuesday) at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle. In addition, a research paper on the celestial body was accepted for a scientific monthly.

“We’re talking about one of the only solar systems with a number of minor life-supporting planets that we know of,” said lead researcher Emily Gilbert. “This makes the TOI 700 system fascinating for future research.”

Stars of the TOI 700 type are common in the universe, and in recent years it has been discovered that many of them are surrounded by planets of this type.
