Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met this morning (11) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Minister for Middle East Affairs from Britain, Lord Tariq Ahmed, who is currently visiting Israel.

The ministers discussed the close bilateral relations between Israel and Great Britain and regional issues. Foreign Minister Cohen thanked the British Minister for his friendship and British support for Israel as reflected in Britain’s vote against the proposed Palestinian resolution at the UN General Assembly requesting an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Foreign Minister Cohen: “Israel looks forward to deepening cooperation with Britain in all areas, especially in the economic aspects, and we expect to soon upgrade the free trade agreement between the countries. Britain is Israel’s most important trading partner in Europe, and we want to reach an advanced agreement, for the benefit of both the economy and mutual investments.” .
