State Comptroller: We conduct an audit on the cost of living

by time news

State Comptroller Mattaniho Engelman said today (Thursday) that his office is “in the midst of a comprehensive audit on the cost of living” within the framework of which the state’s handling of inflation, mortgage repayments and housing programs will be examined. Engelman said these things at the annual professional conference of the Bureau of Internal Auditors in Israel, against the background of the economic plan presented yesterday by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, and called on them: “Fix the deficiencies that we published to help lower the cost of living.”

“The entire world, and the State of Israel, has been suffering from rising inflation for the past year. This affects all of us, and in particular the poor among us, as revealed by the poverty report published today,” Engelman said in his speech. “In recent months we are in the middle of a comprehensive review of the cost of living in the State of Israel.”

According to the auditor, as part of the audit, among other things, “the country’s preparation for the outbreak of inflation, the regulation of the dairy industry, and the Israeli governments’ housing programs will be examined. These are added to the reports we have already published in recent months on digital banking, competitiveness in the automobile industry, and monopolies in the food market.”

“I call on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to correct the deficiencies and adopt the recommendations we published in the audit reports to help lower the cost of living”
