A healthy life is possible only through healthy food. The kind of study that underpins this is coming out now. The study that is waiting for people who are accustomed to fast food is a disease called fatty liver is now becoming serious. The new discovery was made in a study conducted by Keck Medicine at the University of Southern California. The study was published in the medical journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

If 20 percent or more of your daily caloric intake comes from junk food, the risk of disease is certain. For the average person, the problem is when a fifth or more of the diet comes from hotels. Studies have shown that consumption of fast food can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver. This is a disease in which fat accumulates in the liver. Those who regularly eat fast food are more likely to develop fatty liver, as are those who are obese and those with diabetes.

A healthy person’s liver contains less than five percent fat. Even a slight deviation from this can lead to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. It is also known as liver steatosis. Later it leads to serious conditions like liver cirrhosis, liver scarring, liver cancer etc.

Most people think what’s wrong with eating from a restaurant only once a day. But if one-fifth of a day’s total calories come from here, then health is at risk, says hepatologist and lead researcher of the study Annie Kardashian. According to Kardashian, there have been previous studies showing that consumption of fast food can lead to obesity, but this is the first time that it has been recognized that it can affect the liver.

A survey of nearly 4,000 fatty liver patients found that 52 percent were addicted to fast food. The number of people consuming fast food has been increasing exponentially over the last 50 years, regardless of socio-economic disparity. There are people who used to eat from restaurants full time during covid. So the study is relevant now, Kardashian said
