Why did one of the biggest singers in the world refuse 9 million dollars?

by time news

The offer came after event organizers in Qatar hoped to hire the rapper duo following a critically acclaimed performance at the Super Bowl halftime show. On the American radio program, Big Boys Neighborhood, 50 Cent said that “because of the Super Bowl, I got an inquiry about the World Cup and they had a budget of 9 million dollars”. He went on to claim that he would only take $1 million from the show and the other $8 million was for Eminem.

50 Cent even added: “If you were to do a one-off show, I might do the biggest live sporting event the world has ever seen.” Despite Eminem’s reluctance to perform, 50 Cent attempted to negotiate with Eminem’s management and entourage. In the end he didn’t succeed: “They told me, ‘He won’t do it.'” It is still unclear if the offer was for a show at the opening ceremony of the World Cup, or for another show in Doha.
