Kolkata: KL Rahul’s opportune innings saved India in the second ODI against Sri Lanka when the top players failed. Chasing a target of 216 runs, India were 89 for 4 after 16 overs. Rohit Sharma (17), Shubman Gill (21), Virat Kohli (4) and Shreyas Iyer (28) were disappointing. But when Rahul remained unbeaten on 64 runs off 103 balls, victory stood with India.

According to him, things are not going well for Malayalee actor Sanju. Rohit is of the opinion that a left-hander is needed in the middle order. Captain’s words… KL Rahul has been batting at number 5 for a long time. It adds depth to the batting line-up. Rahul’s presence boosts confidence. When Rahul comes to the middle, the front row players can play freely. Rahul’s performance was excellent. But it is thought that there is one more left-hander in the middle order. But I don’t believe much in strategy. The team has good right handed batsmen. They can overcome challenges and stressful situations,” said Rahul.
Rohit also talked about the upcoming series. “There are three more ODIs coming up against New Zealand. A long season ahead. If you want to change the team, then you will think. Kuldeep Yadav’s performance in the comeback is commendable. It was Kuldeep’s performance that brought the team back into the competition. Kuldeep is a confident bowler. He gives hope to the team. I am not thinking of making any changes in the third ODI. After reaching there and understanding the situation, a decision will be taken,” Rohit said.
