Local government elections were held on the 25th in BJP-ruled Tripura. Elections were held for 13 urban local bodies. The registered votes were counted today.

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress came in second, with the BJP leading in most of the seats. The Marxist Communist Party has been pushed to 3rd place.

The BJP has now won 28 seats in more than 51 wards. As the BJP begins to take the lead, party volunteers are celebrating.

Meanwhile, the results of the local body elections show the possibility of the Trinamool Congress party coming to power in the 2023 assembly elections, said the party’s general secretary and spokesman Kunal Ghosh.
