The rise in consumer prices rose to an annual average of 5.2% over the whole of 2022, announced the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) on Friday January 13, while confirming that ‘it amounted to 5.9% in December, compared to December 2021.
The annual average takes into account inflation levels for the twelve months of a calendar year, and price increases were lower at the start of the year last year, hence the difference between the two rates.
