A bi-community advisory committee was set up to conduct the Avaniyapuram jallikattu potti!

An 8-member advisory committee comprising two different parties was formed regarding the Avaniyapuram jallikattu competition.

Avaniyapuram Muniyaswamy filed a petition in the Madurai branch of the High Court asking that the Jallikattu competition to be held on January 15 in Avaniyapuram, Madurai district should be ordered to form a committee and conduct it.

The case came up for hearing yesterday before a bench of Justices Krishnakumar Vijayakumar. Judges directed the Madurai Collector to hold a peace meeting involving all community members regarding the Avaniyapuram jallikattu. Accordingly, a special committee was formed to discuss the matter.
