Beijing: Covid cases are increasing in many foreign countries including China. The World Health Organization has accused China of not sharing accurate information about disease and death rates. China has now released data on the death rate. According to the authorities, about 60,000 Covid-related deaths have been reported in China in a month.

Jiao Yahui, head of the Medical Administration Bureau under the National Health Mission, said that 59,938 Covid-related deaths were reported in China in one month. The figures from December 8, 2022 to January 12 this year have been published now.

Of these, 5,503 deaths were due to respiratory disease caused by the virus, Jiao said. He said that 54,435 people died due to serious health problems such as cancer and heart disease after the arrival of Covid.

South China Morning reports that the average age of those who died was eighty, and 90 percent of those who went into critical condition were aged 65 or older.

The World Health Organization had come out against China the other day for not reporting accurate disease and death rates. However, the figures have not been hidden and Chinese scientists are in discussions with the World Health Organization, said Liu Pengqiu, the spokesperson of the Beijing Embassy.

As the spread of Covid intensified in early 2020, the restrictions that started in China continued without compromise until recently. However, the relaxations started to be given recently due to nationwide protests against the zero covid policy. With that, there were reports that the number of covid patients and the death rate were increasing massively.
