Powerful earthquake hits Indonesia – Tamilwin

A powerful earthquake occurred yesterday in Bengulu province in the western part of Indonesia. It registered 5.3 points on the Richter scale.

The earthquake was 18 km under the sea. The US Geological Survey reported that it was centered at depth. The earthquake, which occurred at 5.41 am local live, lasted for a few seconds. Then buildings including houses shook terribly. Panicked people ran out of the buildings and took refuge in the streets.

However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties or serious injuries or large-scale property damage due to the earthquake. Earlier, two days ago, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Tanimbar Islands of Indonesia, followed by a tsunami warning.
