Australia will tour India after their Test series win over South Africa. The Indian team, which is busy with the ODI series against Sri Lanka, faces a huge challenge against Australia after the series ends.

Australia will tour India for a series of 4 Tests and 3 ODIs. BCCI announced the Indian squad for the first two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 a few days ago. Following this, BCCI also gave another big update.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series will be played at four different venues in India this year. The first Test will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamta, Nagpur from February 9 to 13, while the second Test will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from February 17 to 21. The third Test will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium from March 1 to 5 and the fourth in Ahmedabad. It will be held from 9th to 13th March at Narendra Modi Maidan.

Meanwhile, as per the International Cricket Council Men’s Future Tour Plan (FTP) for 2023-27 after this series, Australia and India will play two five-match series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship.

Accordingly, India will tour Australia on a rotational basis from 2023-25. After that, Australia will tour India in the 2025-27 cycle.

According to the official statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, this will be the last edition of the 4-match Test series between India and Australia. All the matches to be held after this will also be a Test series of 5 Test matches.

Notably, since 2003/04 when India toured Australia, it has been 4 matches. Only last year 2010/11 Border-Gavaskar series was played as 2 matches. Notably, Dicey played five Test matches in the 1991/92 season.

Test Series:

February 9-13: First Test
February 17-21: Second Test
March 1-5: Third Test
March 9-13: Fourth Test

ODI Series:

March 17: First ODI
March 19: Second ODI
March 22: Third ODI
