Six people, including a 7-year-old girl, were injured in a shooting that took place at a funeral procession in London yesterday.

At least six people, including a seven-year-old girl, were injured in a suspicious drive-by following a funeral in London on Saturday, police said. London Met Police said in a statement that “the incident took place close to a church where a funeral was being held. Initial investigations suggest that shots were fired from a moving vehicle, which was then driven away from the scene.”

Apart from a seven-year-old girl, six people, including four women and another girl aged 12, were injured in the incident near busy Euston railway station. A 12-year-old girl was treated for minor leg injuries and discharged from hospital.

A 21-year-old woman is also being treated at a central London hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening. Three other women, aged 41, 48 and 54, are being treated in hospital for injuries, police said.

“Any shooting is unacceptable, but yesterday afternoon’s shooting that injured so many people, including two children, is shocking. The investigation into this horrific attack is already involving local authorities and specialist detectives,” said Police Superintendent Ed Wells.

An eyewitness said that some people who attended the funeral saw the release of the pigeons when the shooting took place.
