UAE ramps up eco-friendly energy projects: 11 projects launched last year

Abu Dhabi: Last year alone, 11 eco-friendly energy projects were launched in the UAE. The UAE implemented projects worth Dh15,900 crore last year. The UAE aims to expand clean energy production in the coming years. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Development Suhail Al Mazrouei announced that the country also plans to reduce its dependence on other fuels.

The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 is a policy document to reduce global warming and emphasize renewable energy production. It aims to lead the country to a path of sustainable development. He explained that the UAE was one of the first countries to ratify the Paris Agreement on climate change and that the country had made great progress in the last five years by revising the National Energy Strategy 2050 and formulating a National Hydrogen Strategy.

Meanwhile, in 2021, the country generated 7,035.75 MW of clean energy. In 2021, the UAE generated 19.63% of clean energy, 12% from renewable energy, and 7.55% from nuclear energy.
