Chief Minister MK Stalin inspects rain-affected areas in Tiruvallur district: Provides relief assistance

Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin inspected various areas affected by heavy rains in Tiruvallur district yesterday. At that time, he provided relief aid to the affected people. Chief Minister MK Stalin has been inspecting the areas affected by the heavy rains in Chennai and across the state since July 7 due to the ongoing northeast monsoon in Tamil Nadu and the prevailing low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. He has been visiting various districts day and night to visit the rehabilitation works and provide relief assistance to the affected people.

Rainwater is being completely removed in most places, following orders from the government to visit Chennai and surrounding districts regularly to expedite relief work on a wartime basis. He also directed the officers to take all necessary steps to bring the public back to normal life. Special medical camps are being conducted as a precautionary measure to provide all necessary relief assistance to the people affected by the monsoon floods and to control the diseases that occur during the monsoon season and to provide appropriate treatment to the general public.

This is the fourth time in the last 200 years that Chennai has received 1000 mm of rainfall in a single month. Chief Minister MK Stalin thanked all the departmental officials, including the Corporation, the Electricity Department, the Public Works Department, the Revenue Department and the Police, who have been working tirelessly throughout the day in this continuous rainy season. He also mentioned that he stands on the field with all the departmental officers who are dedicated to protecting the people.

As it has been reported that heavy rains will continue in Tamil Nadu for the next few days, the people’s representatives and government officials have asked all to continue the relief work from the field without looking at the time and place. In this context, Chief Minister MK Stalin yesterday inspected the flood damage in Padmavathi town, Tiruverkadu municipality, Tiruvallur district. He then ordered the authorities to take immediate action to remove the stagnant rainwater. Also, 2 km from Padmavathi to Velappanchavady Panchayat Union Primary School. He instructed the officials to walk and visit the flood affected areas, listen to the demands of the public and take immediate relief measures.

Thiruverkadu Municipality visited the Velappanchavady Panchayat Union Primary School Relief Camp and provided relief aid to more than 300 people staying there. He also inspected the ongoing special medical camp and special corona vaccination camp at Velappanchavady Panchayat Union Primary School. Following this, the Poonamallee Municipality visited the flood affected areas of Amman Koil Street and instructed the officials to take immediate action to remove the stagnant rain water and provide relief items to the public.

He inspected the work being carried out by the Avadi Corporation, Sriram Nagar and Thirumullaivayal, Ganapathy Nagar to remove the rainwater that had accumulated due to heavy rains. At the time, he was distributing relief items to the public. Chief Minister MK Stalin told the crowds on all four sides of the road and streets to be vigilant against the spread of the disease during the rainy season, to wear a helmet and be safe during the corona period, and to be vaccinated against the corona vaccine. Similarly, Chief Minister MK Stalin also handed over relief aid to the public organized at various places on behalf of the DMK.

This was followed by a visit to the Corona Special Vaccination Camp near the Tamil Nadu Housing Board Residence in Villivakkam, Chennai. Then, to the medical officers, ‘How many people have been vaccinated today?’ He asked all members of the public coming to the camp to be vaccinated until the evening. During the inspection, Dairy Minister Samu Nasser, Member of Parliament Jayakumar, Member of Parliament Krishnasami, Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sankar Jival, District Relief Services Monitoring Officer Ananthakumar, District Collector Alby John Varghese, representatives of local bodies and senior government officials were present.

On his way to visit the places affected by the heavy rains yesterday, the Chief Minister had a discussion with the public after having tea at a roadside shop on Avadi Corporation, Murthy Nagar, Poonamallee Highway.
