Manama: Three people have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for taking a newlywed bride abroad for prostitution. The sentence was handed down by the Bahraini court. The incident came to the outside world when the young woman escaped from the clutches of the gang and informed the police. The accused are the woman’s husband, his son from his first marriage and another person.

The 39-year-old husband tried to extort money from the 25-year-old woman. The 21-year-old son of his first marriage and their family friend, 49-year-old, were caught by the Bahraini police. All those involved in the case are Syrian nationals. The court found that the defendants had planned the human trafficking for financial gain.

There, all the accused together held the young woman. Threatened and forced to have sex with strangers.

But the young woman bravely escaped and approached the Bahraini police and narrated all the incidents. These matters came before the police on October 18. She told the judges during the trial that she threatened to kill herself because her husband forced her to have sex with strangers. After completing the trial in the case, the court sentenced all the three accused to 10 years in prison. All three will be deported from Bahrain after serving their sentences.
