Former Béziers scrum-half Pierre Danos, international in the 1950s, died overnight from Sunday to Monday at the age of 93, the Hérault club announced on Monday. The ASBH, currently in Pro D2 but champion of France eleven times between 1961 and 1984, greeted “a Biterrois prince”.
With Béziers, he notably won the Challenge Yves-du-Manoir (1964) and played in four finals of the French Championship (1960, 1961, 1962, 1964), for a victory (1961). He then scored the decisive drop, from the edge of the sidelines, during the victory of the Red and Blue in front of Albi (6-3).
Before wearing the colors of Béziers for ten years, Danos had played in Albi (1949-1950) and Toulon (1950-1955). He was also international eighteen times between 1954 and 1960, playing in three Five Nations Tournaments, including the 1959 and 1960 editions, won by Les Bleus.
