Spanish men’s champion Rafael Nadal has won the Australian Open tennis. In the first round, he defeated Britain’s Drapire 7–5, 2–6, 6–4, 6–1. Last two-time runner-up, Russian Daniil Medvedev defeated American Marcus Giron 6–0, 6–1, 6–2.

Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas, America’s Francis Thiafoe and Italy’s Janic Zinner reached the second round.
In the first match of the women’s round, Poland’s Iga Schwatek defeated Germany’s Julie Niemeyer 6-4, 7-5. Colombia’s Camila Osorio is the next opponent.
