Three pro-government parties lead parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan

The Ata-Zhurt Kyrgyzstan party is leading the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) of Kyrgyzstan based on the results of counting data from 65% of the polling stations, according to the data of the Central Election Commission of the republic. The party won 29.76% of the vote. Two other pro-government parties, Ishenim and Yntymak, gained 24.54% and 20.38%, respectively.

Four opposition parties can get into parliament – Social Democrats, Ata-Meken, Butun Kyrgyzstan and Azattyk. According to preliminary data, they overcome the 5% barrier.

For the first time, elections in Kyrgyzstan are held according to a mixed, party-majority system. Polling stations closed at 20:00 local time (17:00 Moscow time). Two days before the elections, the Kyrgyz authorities announced the prevention of a coup attempt.
