The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, has announced that 2.5 million people in Nigeria are at risk of starvation.

Currently, 1.7 million people in Nigeria are experiencing food insecurity, and 60 million of them are children under the age of 5, according to the UN. system.
The current 1 crore 70 lakh is expected to rise to 2 crore 50 lakh between June and August, UNICEF said, adding that children are the most affected and are at risk of dying due to malnutrition.

In 2022, the UN’s UNICEF organization has saved approximately 650,000 children in 6 states of Nigeria suffering from severe food shortages by providing basic food aid.
