Music book students brings back beautiful memories

by time news

Although the project was officially over after the third year of study, Fleur, together with two other fellow students, continued with the music book. “We do this under the company name Emjoy, which stands for Enjoy Memories, something that is very important for people with dementia. This is also shown by scientific research. “Music stays with us the longest and can evoke memories. How can our book contribute to that?”

Pure luck
This happens, among other things, with the songs ‘Tulips from Amsterdam’ and ‘A smile of a child’. The book, which has been on sale for three months, is made of sturdy cardboard, contains more than enough pictures and has a button for each song that you can press to play the music. “We see people with dementia swaying, humming or even singing along with our book. We create pure moments of happiness with this. Not only for the people with dementia themselves, but also for family members.”

Although Fleur and her colleagues are extremely happy with the results the book brings about, they are not standing still. We are working hard on new products, including new versions of the music book. “Everyone has to deal with dementia sooner or later in their lives. The fact that we can make that period more bearable for all those involved is extremely valuable.”

Happy with what you do
Fleur likes to share another tip with other students who would like to do business, but are not sure if it is something for them. “There are risks in doing business, but those risks are always there. Every time I talk about Emjoy with my colleagues or others, I get really excited and happy with the work I do. And if something you do makes you happy, you should do it.” [Noëlle van den Berg]
