Madurai: 20 percent of the complaints received by the district social welfare department under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act have increased in the form of ‘Whats App, Audio’ complaints.

Every month, 25 to 30 people seek the office of the district social welfare department as victims of domestic violence. There are a lot of problems like alcoholism and bad relationships. Punishment cannot be expected for miscommunication. Rights and protections can be secured under the Domestic Violence Act. Alimony has been earned.

Recently, there has been an increase in the complaints of ‘Facebook, WhatsApp’ between husband and wife talking and interacting with another person. When they come to complain, they bring the audio, video and chat recordings as documents. Apart from that, there has been an increase in the tendency to record and bring audio when talking to one another within family relationships.

Mental health counselors say that by doing this, distrust between husband and wife increases and cracks in the family relationship.
