The two leading Democratic candidates for the presidency: the vice president and the former first lady

A new poll shows that Camela Harris and Michelle Obama may run head-to-head for the Democratic Party leader in the 2024 presidential election – if Biden does not run for a second term

The current Vice President of the United States, Camela Harris, and former First Lady Michelle Obama are two leading Democratic presidential candidates – should President Biden decide not to run for a second term in 2024. This is according to a Hill-HarrisX survey.

Harris leads in front of all potential candidates with 13 percent support from voters, while Obama came in second with close to ten percent.

Other potential candidates included Sen. Bernie Sanders Mormont, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Corey Bocker of New Jersey, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Transportation Minister Pete Butige and former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Young.

All received support of five percent or less from registered voters.

Still, 36 percent said they were “unsure” who they would vote for, and 13 percent said they would choose someone who was not on the list the poll presented.

A few days ago, the White House acknowledged that President Joe Biden intends to run for another term, and if he does, he may face former Republican President Donald Trump – who has not yet officially announced a run for the White House, but all indications are that he is aiming for that. .

But Biden, if he is sworn in for another term, will be 82 years old, which casts doubt on many regarding his mental fitness. This is in addition to his job approval rating, which has been falling since August, mainly due to inflation and the immigration crisis, and the percentage of support for him in most surveys is around 40 percent.

A Politico poll released earlier this month showed that 50 percent of registered voters disagreed with the statement that “Joe Biden is in good health,” while only 40 percent agreed and ten percent did not know or had no opinion.

However, Biden saw a slight increase in support for him in the polls, with a poll conducted about ten days ago showing a 44 percent approval rating, while 11 percent of respondents did not comment on the issue.

However, 45 percent of respondents said they strongly disapprove of the way the president handles the economy. On the issue of immigration, only 34% said they support his policy.
