The BIRD Foundation invests over 8 million dollars in new projects

The BIRD Foundation, the Israel-USA Binational Industrial Research and Development Fund, has approved investments totaling $8.4 million in nine joint projects for Israeli and American companies. In addition to grants, the new projects will also receive financing from the private sector, so that the total investment in the projects is expected to reach 20 million dollars.

The nine projects recently approved at the board meeting are added to more than 1000 projects in which the fund has invested during its 45 years of activity. The projects, whose total investment reaches more than 370 million dollars, have so far generated direct and indirect sales of more than 10 billion dollars.

The projects submitted to the fund are carefully examined by Israeli examiners on behalf of the Innovation Authority and American examiners on behalf of the US National Institute of Technology and Standards (NIST). These are the nine selected projects:

Amarel Embedded Solutions (AES) Israeli and company Setco Sales Company A smart spindle platform will be developed to optimize machining systems.

Alpeiro Motion Israeli and company Helbender The American company will develop an indoor and outdoor navigation system for robots.

Castor Israeli and company Siemens Corporation Technology The American will develop an automatic calculation process of CO2 emissions in 3D printing compared to traditional industrial production, which supports finding opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Cielo Inertial Solutions Israeli and company Guinn Partners The American company will cooperate in the development and commercialization of an inertial sensor solution designed to meet the requirements of the new space.

EyeFree Assisting Communication the Israeli and the hospital Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will conduct a clinical trial and investigate the effectiveness of the EyeControl-Pro system in reducing delirium in an intensive care environment, by enabling two-way communication between the patient, the medical teams and the patients’ families.

Cadimastem the Israeli andiTolerance The American company will combine Kadimastem’s regenerative technology with a protein developed by the American company as a solution to cure diabetes without the need for chronic immunosuppression.

New phase and a friend Ultraflex Power Technologies The American company will develop the next generation of non-ionizing electromagnetic field projection machines. This electro magnetic spine causes heating of nano particles which are used to destroy metastases and tumors in stage 4 cancer patients by the method of electro magnetic hyperthermia.

world Israeli and company Vinergy The American will cooperate in the development of an autonomous harvesting system based on green energy.

Zariant Pharma The Israeli and the American Accuray will develop an innovative treatment that combines a drug that protects the digestive system from radiation damage and targeted radiation technology, which will dramatically increase the effectiveness of pancreatic cancer treatment.
