As I recall, last night Sullivan met with President Yitzhak Herzog, the National Security Advisor of the United States, during the latter’s visit to Israel. This is the fourth time the two have met. First, the two held an extended meeting that included their advisors, and then moved on to talk with tears in their eyes.

The two discussed the cooperation between the countries, as well as the strategic ones. At the beginning of their meeting, Herzog said: “I am happy to welcome the national security adviser of the United States, Jake Sullivan, a great friend of Israel and a great expert on the world of security and Middle East affairs. You come at the right time, when we are facing so many challenges together. I am very happy to welcome you to our country.”

“Thank you, Mr. President. President Biden sends you his personal best wishes. He fondly remembers your visit to the Oval Office and looks forward to welcoming you again soon, and also to returning to Israel after his very successful visit here last year,” said Sullivan.

Also, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen also met with Sullivan. The two discussed the Iranian nuclear program, as well as the strategic cooperation between the countries.

In addition, they discussed the expansion of additional partnerships within the framework of the peace agreements and the promotion of normalization in the Middle East. The minister pointed out to Sullivan the need to harness the Europeans to efforts to increase the pressure and sanctions on Iran.
