Several avalanches occurred this Thursday in Savoie. A man was killed in one of them, said CRS rescuers from Modane.

The skier, aged 57 according to France Bleu Pays de Savoie, was off-piste near the resort of Les Arcs, when an avalanche took place around 3 p.m., in the Aiguille Grive sector, rescuers said. .

Originally from the region and ski instructor, the victim “was found by the trackers” of the station before the intervention of the CRS.

Call for caution

The Albertville prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation. “We are already heading towards a classification without follow-up”, specified the public prosecutor, Anne Gaches, reports the local radio.

The national association for the study of snow and avalanches (Anena) called for the greatest caution after the recent snowfall, especially “at the approach to the ridges and on all slopes over 30 degrees” .
