The American musician David Crosby, one of the American rock legends of the 60s, passed away at the age of 81.

In a message delivered by his wife Jen to the “Variety” website, it was reported that Crosby died after a long battle with an illness.

“Even though he is no longer with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to accompany us. His legacy will continue to live with us around his beloved creation. (We wish) peace, love and harmony to all those who knew David and those he touched,” the message reads.

Crosby, born in Los Angeles, founded the band “The Byrds” in 1964 with Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman and Michael Clark. He left the band after three years and five albums in which he participated.

In 1968 he founded the group “Crosby, Stills and Nash” with the musicians Graham Nash and Stephen Stills. The band members appeared together at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, where they were joined by the Canadian musician Neil Young.

Crosby was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, with the two bands he founded. He left behind four children from four different women.
