Handball World Cup: France qualified for the quarter-finals even before playing against Iran

by time news

The France team has qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Handball Championship, even before its match this Friday (6 p.m.) against Iran in Krakow, thanks to Spain’s victory against Slovenia (31-26 ).

The Blues (6 pts) can no longer be joined in one of the first two places in Group I of the main round either by Slovenia (4 pts) or by Montenegro (2 pts), which they will overtake in the event of a final tie after beating them. The reigning Olympic champions dominated the Slovenians in the first round (35-31) and the Montenegrins on Wednesday (35-24).

They will face, after the modest Iranians, Spain (8 pts), also qualified, on Sunday with the challenge of first place in the group. It would allow them to face the second group III (Germany, Norway, Netherlands or Serbia) and not the first.

The quarter-final of the Blues is scheduled for Wednesday in Gdansk (Poland).
