Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich last Thursday signed orders to reduce the purchase tax and the excise tax on gasoline. The orders, which will come into effect on Sunday, January 22, 2023, will result in a reduction in the price of a liter of gasoline by 10 cents.
The maximum price per liter of unleaded 95 octane gasoline for the consumer at a self-service station (including VAT), which at the beginning of the month was 6.94 shekels per liter, will drop from Sunday to 6.84 shekels per liter.
The discount comes as part of the program to deal with rising prices in the economy.
Against the background of the increases in the price of fuel, in order to reduce the price of fuel for the consumer since April 2022, hourly provisions have been continuously applied that reduce the purchase tax and the excise tax on gasoline.
The curfew today lowers about 3 cents from the price of a liter of gasoline for the consumer compared to the price without the curfew, and it will expire on February 16.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich commented on the new orders: “Another step and another step in the fight against the cost of living. The plan we presented, including the reduction in the price of a liter of gasoline, is only the first step.
The cost of living affects every family in Israel, and the situation must change. In the coming months we will bring additional and significant steps. It’s in our hearts.”
The Ministry of Energy has not yet issued an official update, but the meaning of the order is that the maximum price per liter of 95 octane gasoline in full service will be approximately NIS 6.84 per liter in full service.
