The Minister of Defense and former Chief of Staff, Moshe Ya’alon, protested this morning (Sunday) in an interview with Network B that Israel is on its way to becoming a dictatorship. According to him on the program “This Morning”, “If the Prime Minister, who today controls the Knesset, wants to take over the judiciary, the only body that Independent by appointing judges – this is clearly a dictatorship. It happened in Hungary, in Poland, it also happened in Germany in the 1930s. I know it’s sensitive, but I have to say it.”

Ya’alon went on to say: “How will a judge judge if he thinks about his promotion objectively? This is true for ombudsmen who will be loyal personally and to the overcoming clause. Where was such a thing? It is clear that this is a dictatorship.”

The former minister added that if there is a dictatorship, the economy will also be damaged. According to him, there is already a brake on high-tech investments. He expressed hope that the Histadrut would also join the protest: “I hope that the Histadrut will also understand that if there is a dictatorship here – it will no longer be relevant.”
