Order of the Supreme Court; In Israel, Netanyahu was forced to expel the top minister

Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired a high-ranking minister from the Israeli cabinet.
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, Netanyahu had to fire Aryeh Deri, the health minister in the cabinet.

Netanyahu announced that Aryeh Deri was being fired at a cabinet meeting called on Sunday.

Israel’s Supreme Court ruled last week that Deri, who was found guilty of serious tax evasion, was ineligible to be a cabinet minister, using the court’s special powers.

“It is with great sadness and pain that I am forced to remove you from this position,” Netanyahu said at the cabinet meeting where Deri was removed.

Al Jazeera reported that the Prime Minister’s office released these words of Netanyahu as a statement.

Netanyahu, the leader of Shas, Israel’s far-right-conservative party, was appointed as a cabinet minister in the late November election.

In 2022, the Supreme Court ordered his compulsory removal from the cabinet following tax evasion.

However, there are reports that the resignation of Aryeh Deri, the top leader of Shas, from the ministry is a big setback for Netanyahu, and Netanyahu may make great efforts to bring Deri back to the cabinet.

Last month, a law was passed in Israel that no one who held a ministerial position should be detained.

However, Netanyahu has said that even though Deri had to be expelled from the cabinet, the Shas party will remain in the cabinet “according to the wishes” of the people of Israel.

Netanyahu also said that he will do all the help the government can do for Deri.
