Frankfurt Airport: Super scanner shrinks the queue | Regional

by time news

Frankfurt – Thanks to modern high-tech scanners at the hand luggage check, the annoying misery in waiting at Germany’s largest airport, Rhein-Main, which is notorious for its queues, should come to an end.

Fraport boss Stefan Schulte (62), Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (52, SPD) and Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr (56) presented seven new high-performance scanners in Terminal 1A, which should ensure faster processes at the 170 security checkpoints. “Finally! That will be the urgently needed leap in quality,” says Spohr.

Whether mobile phone, laptop or liquids – time-consuming unpacking of suspicious things in extra tubs is no longer necessary. Even hand luggage that is under your coat can be scanned and checked with the best image quality.

Innovative double track concept

Brand new: The world’s first double-track concept from the Dutch company Vanderlande. The centerpiece is a CT scanner from the US manufacturer Leidos, as known from medical technology. Up to 400 passengers can be checked here per hour.

Feuer-Horror an Bord Small things trigger panic

The old tracks only managed 80 to 100. The six ultra-modern CT scanners from the Wiesbaden company Smiths Detection also allow significantly more speed. If the test is successful, Fraport wants to buy more high-tech devices. In a few years, it is expected that artificial intelligence (AI) could take over the evaluation of CT images. That would save personnel costs.
